Thorough research about the characters, geography, places and events created by Cervantes in his
immortal play "Don Quixote de La Mancha". It analyzes the boundaries of La Mancha in
times of Cervantes, as well as the Hidalgo's genealogy. The ventas (country inns) and the
characters are located and identified by Ligero, thanks to the patient and tireless work
made over thirty years looking for information in archives all over Spain.
This work can be considered as an indispensable book for those who are keen on
Miguel de Cervantes's life and plays. And as long as Ligero's theses are not revoked documentally,
avoiding any silence or discredit with no scientific foundation, two claming traditions will
stay alive: That "The place of La Mancha, the name of which I have no desire to call to mind"
and "Cervantes's true birthplace" are exactly the same place: Alcázar de San Juan.
To those people of Alcázar proud of our history and traditions corresponds the
stimulation of a civilized debate within the Cervantine society, so that our arguments
can be defended and contrasted with other well-known hypotheses, in order to
obtain the elucidation of truth.
